Why a good translation is important

"The translator has the task to convey in the target language the same concepts and messages as the source language, without additions or omissions, at the best of his/her professionals capabilities, in the respect of every aspects, both linguistic or cultural, of the original text. The translator has to promote the communication keeping a neutral position" (from the Translator's Ethical Code).

It is important to commit a translation to a professional linguist, because a mistake in the content's output may even have dreadful consequences.

The non literary translator's primary goal is not necessarily the fidelity to the source text form, but the full reproduction of the original text's information, and its adaptation to the rules and editorial custom of target language/culture. His/her responsibility must be equally shared between the source text and the target text receivers, who are generally a precise social and professional group, whose definite expectations about the editorial standards cannot be deceived.
